The webinar will be chaired by the Coast-R Network’s Prof Stuart McLelland. Stuart is Deputy Director of the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull and Professor of Water Science, conducting research focused on the experimental modelling of rivers and coasts, and particularly understanding how climate change impacts on these environments.

Dr Charlie Thompson

Charlie is the Director of the Channel Coastal Observatory (CCO), part of the National Network of Regional Coastal Monitoring Programmes (NNRCMP) of England, and an Associate Professor in Sediment Dynamics at the University of Southampton. She has worked in coastal process research for 25 years, with interests ranging from exchanges of particles, solutes and energy across the sediment-water interface, the use of annular flumes, multi-disciplinary applications of sediment dynamics research, and coastal monitoring techniques. At CCO, she helps to ensure the delivery of a consistent, repeatable and cost-effective coastal monitoring programme designed to support Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management and beyond.
