ABOUT US
The UK is a land of islands and coasts
From the Scilly Isles to Unst, from the farmland of Suffolk to the beaches of Pembrokeshire, from Regency Brighton to the industrial ports of northern England and the windfarms of the North Sea.

Our coasts and seas embody the environmental and social diversity that characterises historic and modern Britain.
They also represent the front line of many of the UK’s most significant contemporary resilience challenges.
Our coastal and marine spaces, and our ability to thrive within them, are threatened by intersecting factors including:
- climate change, coastal erosion and increased flood hazards
- industrial decline, and pollution
- demographic, socioeconomic and infrastructural challenges.
The Coast-R Network of academics, UK marine, coastal and governmental partners, industrial and community stakeholders is growing every day. Together, we’ll deliver a collaborative programme of activities that is ambitious in scale and diversity. Join our mailing list for regular updates.
