Dr Pamela Buchan

Dr Pamela Buchan is an interdisciplinary marine scientist with an interest in the ways in which humans connect and interact with the marine environment and democratising ocean governance to achieve sustainability. She specialises in researching marine citizenship and its drivers, such as marine identity, and is directly involved in marine governance through her role as Vice Chair of Devon & Severn Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority.

Recent projects have focused on public participation in offshore wind decision-making, use of social evidence in fisheries management and net zero, evaluation of sail training for delivering marine citizenship outcomes, and transformational adaptation to climate change in coastal communities.
