Mel Nicholls

Ecologist by training, with 40 years of environmental policy-making, planning and management experience in local and central government in UK, New Zealand and Zimbabwe.

Currently a Senior Marine Planner in the Marine Management Organisation.  I am responsible for the provision of training and guidance to support the effective use of marine plans.  I co-lead the Social Theme Group covering matters including recreation/tourism, access, historic heritage, fisheries and seascape.  Supporting social benefits from England’s marine areas is my personal sector/topic responsibility.  I am keen to ensure that the social pillar of sustainability is addressed as much as the economic and environmental.
